Former Kirinyaga Woman Representative Purity Wangui Ngirici has been abruptly removed as the Chairperson and Director of Kenya Seed Company Limited, just a day after publicly cutting ties with the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA). WATCH THE VIDEO HERE.
In a letter dated April 30, 2026, Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi ordered her immediate dismissal from the board, signaling a swift and unexpected turn of events following her political declaration.
The directive, addressed to Managing Director Sammy K. Chepsiror, cited provisions within the company’s Articles of Association that allow for the removal and replacement of directors. The letter emphasized that the process should be carried out without delay.
“Article 97 provides the procedure for removal of a Director, while Article 98 empowers the Company or sponsor to replace and/or remove a Director,” part of the letter read.
Although no official reason was given for Ngirici’s removal, the urgency of the directive has raised eyebrows, especially coming barely 24 hours after she announced her exit from President William Ruto’s UDA party.
Ngirici had on Wednesday declared her new political direction, revealing that she had shifted allegiance to support the opposition, a move that has now sparked widespread speculation over the timing of her dismissal.
The government has yet to issue further clarification, but Kenyans online are already debating whether the decision was purely procedural—or politically motivated.
