Drama and tension rocked social media after former Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria broke his silence following the alleged looting of one of his supermarkets during protests over the rising cost of fuel in the country. WATCH THE VIDEO HERE.
In a viral video circulating online, the outspoken politician appeared visibly angry as he condemned those behind the incident, warning that action would soon be taken against everyone involved.
According to Kuria, the destruction and looting crossed the line and should not be tolerated no matter the circumstances.
The protests, which were reportedly fueled by frustrations over the continued increase in fuel prices and the high cost of living, turned chaotic in some areas after groups of youths allegedly started vandalizing businesses and stealing goods from shops.
Speaking emotionally in the now-trending clip, Kuria claimed that his business suffered huge losses after unknown individuals stormed the supermarket and carried away several items.
He accused the perpetrators of hiding behind peaceful demonstrations to commit criminal acts.
“Nyinyi sasa mmecheza na yule mbaya,” Kuria was heard saying angrily in the video, words that have since sparked massive reactions online.
Some Kenyans sympathized with him, saying destruction of property should never be part of protests, while others argued that leaders should listen to the cries of ordinary citizens struggling with the harsh economy.
The incident has once again highlighted the growing tension in the country as many Kenyans continue to complain about the rising prices of fuel, food, and other basic commodities.
The viral video has continued to attract mixed reactions online, with many now waiting to see the next move Kuria will take against those he believes were responsible for the looting incident.
