According to eyewitnesses, the OCS was inside the station compound when officers believed to be from the DCI arrived to question him over the controversial release of several protesters who had allegedly been arrested during the peaceful demonstrations held in different parts of the city.

In a viral video circulating online, the senior officer is seen appearing weak and distressed before suddenly collapsing to the ground as shocked officers and members of the public rushed to help him. 

Voices are heard in the background shouting “Ameanguka chini!” as the tense situation unfolded.

Reports indicate that the officer complained of chest pains and stress moments before he fainted. Police officers and medics quickly responded before rushing him to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment.
