According to a viral video circulating online, the incident happened after the officer arrived at the scene and found another man carrying his wife on his back while crossing the dangerous flooded section.
Witnesses claimed the woman had requested help because the water levels had risen and she feared being swept away by the strong current. A nearby man then volunteered to carry her safely across.
However, things reportedly turned ugly moments later after the police officer arrived and misunderstood the situation.
In the emotional video, angry voices are heard shouting in the background as the officer allegedly accused the man of touching his wife inappropriately.
“Anashika bibi ya nani hivyo?” the furious officer is heard shouting before chaos erupted.
Residents who spoke after the incident claimed the officer became uncontrollably angry and allegedly attacked the good Samaritan using a blunt object, leaving him with serious injuries on both his hands and legs.
The injured man was later rescued by locals before being rushed to hospital for treatment as shocked residents condemned the officer’s actions.
