Embakasi East legislator Babu Owino has been named Kenya’s best-performing Member of Parliament for the second year running at the Politrack Africa Starleaders Awards held on April 2, 2026.
The recognition, based on leadership performance and public impact, follows a similar accolade he received from the same organisers in April last year, highlighting his sustained visibility and influence in national performance rankings.
At the ceremony, Owino received the award with high praise for his commitment to public service.
According to results released by Politrack Africa, he topped the list with a 68.4 % approval rating, narrowly beating other members of parliament such as Lugari MP Nabii Nabwera and Mavoko MP Patrick Makau.
In remarks after the event, the MP said the honour was shared with the people he represents, stressing that his achievements reflect the trust and support of his constituents.
He underscored that leadership is about service, not titles, and pledged to continue working with integrity and humility for the betterment of communities.
This latest award adds to previous assessments that positioned him as a top performer nationally.
In early 2025, an Infotrak Research survey also ranked Owino highly, with a 72 % performance score based on public approval, reinforcing his standing among lawmakers.
Owino’s consecutive recognitions have sparked discussions across Kenya’s political landscape, with supporters seeing them as validation of his active role in legislative work and advocacy, while critics continue to engage in broader debates about political performance metrics.
