On Saturday in Meru County, a pastor identified as Joseph Pius Muruthi was reportedly taken away by force by a group of armed and unknown individuals.
It is said that the attackers stormed his home very early in the morning at around 4:30 AM while the family was still inside and unaware of what was about to happen.
The sudden incident has left the local community in deep shock and fear. According to reports shared by a local radio station, the attackers first turned violent towards the pastor’s wife and children.
They were allegedly assaulted before the pastor was taken.
It is further reported that the pastor’s hands and legs were tied using a dog chain, leaving him helpless as he watched his family struggle and cry for help during the incident.
After restraining him, the unknown individuals forced him into a waiting vehicle and drove away with him to an unknown destination.
CCTV footage from nearby cameras reportedly failed to clearly capture the vehicle’s number plate, making it difficult to trace them at that moment. This has made investigations more challenging for authorities.
Local security agencies have since launched investigations to uncover what happened and identify the people behind the attack.
Meanwhile, the pastor’s wife and children were reportedly taken to hospital for treatment after sustaining injuries.
Residents have called for faster action and improved security in the area to prevent similar incidents from happening again.
