"I Was Fired After Exposing Rogue Priests Who Harassed Me," Former Catholic Nun Claims, Leaving Kenyans in Shock

A former Catholic nun has caused intense public debate after revealing the reasons behind her removal from a religious congregation, raising questions about accountability within some church institutions.

Sr Kinse Shako Annastasia, who previously served in a Nigerian-based religious order, took to social media to share her side of the story. 

She claimed that her dismissal came after she refused to give in to inappropriate advances from certain clergy members during her time in the convent.

According to her, she chose to stand by her moral and religious values, even though this decision eventually cost her position in the congregation. 

She alleged that after she spoke out about the conduct of some priests, she began facing opposition from within the institution, which later led to her expulsion.

She also revealed that upon leaving, she received a small financial settlement of about KSh 8,600, which was part of her exit package. 

However, she insists that her removal was not fair and was influenced by individuals who were uncomfortable with her allegations.

After leaving the convent, Annastasia has been sharing her struggles as she tries to adjust to life outside religious service. She first attempted small business activities but reportedly lost about KSh 6,700 in a failed charcoal deal.

She later started selling kunu, a traditional Nigerian drink made from grains like millet and sorghum, which is commonly consumed for its nutritional benefits. Unfortunately, she says the business did not bring in enough income to sustain her.

In a recent online video, she was seen collecting used plastic bottles to sell for recycling, a move she described as necessary for survival. 

She admitted that shifting from a structured religious life to struggling for daily income has been emotionally difficult.

Despite her hardships, she has continued to encourage resilience and honesty, saying that while people may lose status and comfort, they should never lose their integrity.

Her story has sparked mixed reactions online, with many sympathizing with her situation and praising her determination to rebuild her life while standing firm on her principles.
