Kipchumba Murkomen has explained why some suspects linked to the attack on Godfrey Osotsi have not been arrested.
Speaking in Parliament, Murkomen said many of the suspects ran away to a neighboring country after the incident, making it harder for police to catch them.
He said the Directorate of Criminal Investigations shared photos of the suspects, which led to three of them surrendering. However, about 13 to 14 others escaped across the border.
Murkomen added that Kenyan security agencies are now working with authorities from the other country to track down the suspects and bring them back.
He assured leaders that the government is committed to arresting all those involved in the attack.
The incident happened on April 8 when Osotsi was at a restaurant. He said a group of about 15 to 20 youths entered the place and suddenly attacked him.
According to Osotsi, the group beat him badly while questioning his political position. He tried to escape but fell and lost consciousness before being rescued by his security team.
So far, three suspects have been charged in court but denied the accusations. They were released on a bond of KSh1 million each as the case continues.
Investigations are still ongoing as authorities try to arrest the remaining suspects.
