There was drama on Tuesday evening in Nairobi after a group of angry boda boda riders attacked a bus driver. The riders were escorting a top politician who was coming from an important event.
Trouble started when the bus driver accidentally hit the politician’s vehicle from behind.
According to reports, there was a heavy traffic jam on the road at the time. Vehicles were moving very slowly when the bus driver slightly hit the politician’s car.
Even though no serious damage was seen on the vehicle, the boda boda riders became very angry and reacted in a violent way.
Witnesses said the riders quickly surrounded the bus and forced the driver to come out. They then started beating him using their helmets. The driver was heard screaming for help as the situation got out of control.
Many people who were at the scene were shocked by the incident.
Luckily, a police officer who was on patrol arrived in time and rescued the driver. The officer was forced to shoot in the air to scare away the riders who were ready to lynch the driver. The group then scattered from the scene.
The injured driver was rushed to the hospital where he is currently receiving treatment.
Authorities have started investigations into the matter and are working to arrest those who were involved in the assault.
