On Friday morning, a woman identified as Monie Karungi was found dead alongside her two children inside their rental house, in a tragic incident that has left neighbours and the wider community in deep shock.
Police officers together with residents are currently trying to establish what led to the deaths, as investigations into the incident continue.
Reports indicate that concern had already been raised after Karungi made a post on Facebook that later appeared worrying to people who knew her.
“It was hard to ignore her post. Something just didn’t feel right,” one neighbour said.
Karungi was described as a young and upcoming businesswoman who had earned respect for her dedication and hard work. She was also a single mother who was deeply devoted to her children, a quality that endeared her to many customers and friends.
“She always talked about how much she loved her children and how hard she worked to provide for them,” a close friend said.
About two weeks earlier, Karungi had shared a Facebook post that many now view as disturbing in hindsight. She wrote: “Mpozi! What's in heaven? I'm almost going there!”
Friends say the post, though not taken seriously at the time, now appears to have reflected emotional distress.
The incident has triggered widespread grief on social media, with many expressing sorrow and disbelief over the loss of Karungi and her children.
“I can’t believe this happened. She was full of life and always willing to help others,” one mourner wrote.
The bodies have been moved to the morgue, where postmortem examinations are expected to be conducted as police continue with investigations to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the deaths.
Authorities have assured the public that a thorough probe will be carried out to uncover what happened.
