RIP: Sad as Photo of a Murang’a Teacher Who Was Murdered and Whose Blood Was Drained Into a Bucket Emerges

A family in Murang’a County is still reeling in shock after the tragic death of a 44-year-old teacher and businesswoman whose lifeless body was discovered inside a man’s house in an incident that has left detectives searching for answers.

The woman, identified as Mercy Wamaitha, was found dead on March 8, 2026, in Kiamakumi village within Maragua Constituency.

Villagers who rushed to the scene were left stunned after noticing a bucket containing blood inside the small mud-walled room where her body had been found.

The discovery prompted immediate investigations by officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), who are now working to establish the circumstances surrounding her death.

According to a preliminary report by Murang’a County Police Commander Kemboi Kimaiyo, investigators believe the incident could be linked to a complicated romantic relationship.

Reports indicate that Wamaitha, who hailed from Iganjo village in Kamahuha Ward, was married and had six children. However, her relationship reportedly faced challenges in recent years, leading to periods of separation as she sought work away from home.

Her body was discovered in a house owned by Justus Kamau, who has since been arrested as the main suspect. Police confirmed that he has already appeared in court as investigations continue.

A post-mortem conducted on March 12 revealed that she suffered multiple stab wounds on her thigh and hand. Medical findings showed that two of the injuries cut a major artery, leading to severe bleeding that caused her death.

Investigators are now examining key evidence, including a knife recovered from the scene, as they work to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the killing.

Relatives have since called for justice as police continue with their probe into the tragic incident
