RIP: Photos of Moi University Law Student Who Committed Suicide in Hostel Room After Alleged Breakup with Boyfriend Emerge

Photos have surfaced of a Moi University law student who reportedly took her own life in her hostel room after an alleged breakup with her boyfriend, an incident that has left students and residents of Eldoret in deep shock.

The student, identified as Reginah Njeri Wanjiku, 20, was a second-year law student at Moi University.

According to police reports, her body was discovered on Friday, April 10, hanging on the door grill of her rented house at Annex Shopping Centre in the Sugunanga area.

It is reported that her mother had tried calling her several times without success. Concerned, she contacted her friends and asked them to check on her after she failed to answer her phone calls.

Her friends later went to her residence, where they made the tragic discovery.

Police indicated that the deceased is believed to have used a piece of cloth to hang herself. Authorities also revealed that she left behind a note expressing love for her family and apologizing for her decision.

The body was moved to the mortuary, where a postmortem examination is expected to determine the exact cause of death.

The incident has left fellow students and friends in shock, with many struggling to come to terms with the loss.

Police further noted that this was among several suicide-related cases reported on the same day, raising concern over increasing mental health challenges among young people, particularly university students.

Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
