RIP: Nakuru Residents Heartbroken as Photos of Popular Pastor and His Wife Killed at Night Emerge

Police in Nakuru County have arrested a man believed to be the key planner behind a series of killings targeting elderly residents in Rongai, shedding new light on a case that has caused widespread fear in the area.

The suspect was taken into custody on Tuesday evening within Rongai Sub-county, according to County Criminal Investigations Officer Samuel Ngeiywo.

Detectives believe he hired three individuals, who were arrested earlier, to carry out the murders linked to a long-running land dispute.

He was presented before a court in Molo on Wednesday.

Investigators are seeking more time to complete their enquiries and intend to charge all four suspects together.

During the court session, the suspect’s lawyer informed the magistrate that his client was unwell and required medical attention.

The court granted him release on a cash bail of fifty thousand shillings and ordered him to report daily to Salgaa Police Station.

Authorities stated that his identity remains confidential until formal charges are filed.
Preliminary findings suggest the suspect was a neighbour to one of the victims, Joseph Ndegwa Kihiti, a 90-year-old pastor.

Sources close to the investigation indicated that the suspect had sold a piece of land to Kihiti but later sold the same property to another buyer before the title deed was processed.

When Kihiti reportedly planned to sell the land, the suspect is believed to have arranged his killing to prevent the alleged fraud from being exposed.

Investigators also noted that the suspect appeared at the crime scene after the bodies were discovered and publicly claimed to have been a friend of the deceased.

The three earlier suspects admitted to detectives that they were paid one million shillings to carry out the killings.

They appeared in court on March 30, where investigators were granted thirty days to conclude their probe.

The case will be mentioned again on April 27.
Kihiti and his wife, Rose Wanjiku, were found dead in their home at Muthera Farm.

Post-mortem results showed all victims died from severe head injuries, with evidence suggesting they tried to defend themselves.
