A tragic incident in Nyeri County has left residents in shock after a man reportedly took his own life on Tuesday following a dispute involving his pregnant wife and a local chief. WATCH THE VIDEO HERE.
According to reports, the chief had earlier promised to support the man’s wife after he lost his job about nine months ago. Villagers claim that the woman frequently stayed at the chief’s residence, while her husband was only allowed to see her on weekends.
It is further alleged that the chief gave the man Ksh 3,000 and told community members that it was unfair for a woman to suffer in a financially struggling home. He maintained that he was simply offering assistance to both parties.
However, tensions rose after the woman became pregnant. The husband reportedly insisted on living with his wife, but the chief refused and allegedly told him to take the matter to court if he was dissatisfied.
Feeling overwhelmed by emotional distress and frustration, the man is said to have ended his life, leaving behind a note reading, “God will revenge for me.”
The incident has sparked anger and debate in Nyeri County, with many residents criticizing the chief’s actions and questioning his involvement in the family matter.
