Winnie Odinga is emerging as a key figure in the ongoing internal reshuffle within the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).
Nairobi ODM delegates have officially endorsed her for the position of Deputy Party Leader, setting the stage for a high-profile contest at the upcoming National Delegates Conference (NDC).
Makadara MP George Aladwa announced the endorsement, noting that Nairobi has lacked representation in ODM’s top leadership since the passing of party leader Raila Odinga in 2025. “We want Winnie to fill that gap and give Nairobi a strong voice,” Aladwa said.
Winnie is expected to face stiff competition from notable party heavyweights, including Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Nassir and Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi, making this race one of the most closely watched in recent ODM history.
The move comes as Winnie has made headlines for speaking out against certain party decisions and leadership changes, signaling her willingness to challenge established norms within ODM.
Observers now await to see whether Winnie will consolidate her influence and secure a top leadership position, or if the party’s old guard will maintain control over ODM’s key decision-making organs.
