Tragedy as Missing Kenyan Student Found Dead in UK River After Weeks of Search, Some Organs Reportedly Missing

The Kenyan community in the United Kingdom is mourning the death of Edna Mmbali Ombakho, a 31-year-old master’s student at York St John University.

Edna was reported missing in Wraysbury on February 1, 2026, after she went out for a walk and never returned.

Her disappearance caused deep concern among her family in Kitale, who were used to constant communication with her. When her calls suddenly stopped, they immediately sensed that something was wrong.

Appeals were made across communities, and searches were conducted in different areas. For over a month, family, friends, and supporters remained hopeful that Edna would be found safe and reunited with her loved ones.

Sadly, on March 8, 2026, her body was discovered in a river, bringing the weeks-long search to a heartbreaking end. According to reports shared by KBC Ingo FM, the circumstances surrounding her death remain unclear, and investigations are ongoing to establish what happened.

Reports circulating online have also indicated that some of her organs were reportedly missing, although authorities have not yet released full details.

The discovery has left her loved ones devastated, turning prayers for her safe return into mourning for a young life cut short.

Tributes from friends and members of the Kenyan diaspora have described Edna as a bright, kind, and dedicated young woman whose future held great promise. Many have expressed deep sorrow over the tragic loss and extended their sympathies to the Ombakho family.

The Kenyan community in Thames Valley and across the United Kingdom has also rallied around the grieving family, offering support and solidarity during this difficult time as investigations continue.
