Edwin Sifuna Affirms Loyalty to Raila Odinga Amid ODM Criticism

Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has rebuffed critics within the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), declaring that he remains the last loyal secretary general to the late Raila Odinga despite mounting pressure from some party members.

Sifuna made the remarks during a Linda Mwananchi event in Kaiti Constituency, Makueni County, which combined a church service, community engagement, and political dialogue.

“My loyalty to Raila and the ideals that shaped ODM remains firm. Criticism from some party members will not shake my commitment to the movement’s founding values,” he said.

Defending ODM’s Legacy

The senator highlighted that his leadership has always been guided by honesty and accountability. He emphasized that protecting ODM’s legacy sometimes attracts resistance from members uncomfortable with internal discipline.

Sifuna underscored the principles championed by Raila Odinga: justice, equality, and safeguarding the interests of ordinary Kenyans.

He called on party members to focus on unity and grassroots engagement rather than political infighting:

“ODM must remain focused on championing the interests of ordinary citizens rather than internal wrangles,” Sifuna said.

Community Engagement

The Linda Mwananchi forum provided an opportunity for leaders to interact directly with residents, address community concerns, and encourage civic participation.

Speakers at the event praised the spirit of unity and noted that faith-based gatherings are valuable for reconnecting national politics with local development issues.

Residents welcomed the leaders’ presence, saying such events help bridge the gap between national decision-making and community needs across Makueni County.
