Super Metro Limited Announces New Rongai Route

Popular matatu operator Super Metro Limited has unveiled a new transport route connecting Nairobi to Ongata Rongai, expanding its growing network across the city and its outskirts.

In a statement shared on Monday, March 30, the company confirmed the move, saying: “New route alert!!! Today. Rongai, here we are!!!! Thank you for your continued support.”

However, the operator did not disclose the exact start date for full operations or the designated boarding stage for passengers along the Rongai route.

Expanding Network

Super Metro already operates across more than 15 routes within Nairobi and surrounding satellite towns. These include areas such as Thika, Juja, Westlands, Kikuyu, Ngong, Kitengela, and Kahawa West, among others.

The expansion to Rongai is expected to benefit thousands of daily commuters who rely heavily on matatu transport between the town and Nairobi’s CBD.

Recent Growth and Comeback

The new route comes months after the SACCO resumed operations following a suspension by the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA).

Super Metro had been required to comply with Public Service Vehicles Regulations before being cleared by both NTSA and the Transport Licensing Appeals Board (TLAB) to return to the roads.

Since then, the company has been steadily expanding its routes, including a 2025 launch connecting Kencom in the CBD to Kabiria via Upperhill and Ngong Road.

What This Means for Commuters

The Rongai route is likely to ease transport pressure along one of Nairobi’s busiest corridors, offering commuters more options and potentially more reliable services.

With demand for efficient urban transport rising, Super Metro’s expansion signals increasing competition among matatu Saccos and improved connectivity for Nairobi residents.
