Kenya Power Announces Planned Blackouts in Several Counties on Monday, March 30

Kenya Power and Lighting Company has announced scheduled power interruptions in several parts of the country on Monday, March 30, 2026, as part of routine maintenance aimed at improving electricity supply and stabilising the national grid.

In a public notice issued on Sunday, March 29, the utility company said the planned maintenance exercise will run from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the affected areas.

The company explained that the outages are necessary to upgrade infrastructure and enhance service delivery across the electricity network.

Uasin Gishu County

Parts of Uasin Gishu County will be affected, particularly areas around Boma Inn and Top Hill.
Key institutions expected to experience outages include Boma Inn, Top Hill Hospital, and nearby residential and commercial customers.

Power Reliability Concerns

According to the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA), Kenyans continue to experience an average of 8.39 hours of monthly power outages, although this reflects a slight improvement compared to previous figures.

EPRA noted that while reliability is improving, more work is still needed to meet national service delivery targets.

Kenya Power and Lighting Company has urged customers in the affected areas to plan accordingly and assured them that the maintenance work is aimed at improving long-term power stability and reducing unexpected outages in the future.
