Former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i has criticized the level of spending on the presidency, saying the budget allocated to State House Nairobi should never be higher than the funding set aside for hospitals and essential health services.
Speaking on Sunday after attending a church service, Matiang’i said the government must prioritize the welfare of ordinary citizens, especially in critical sectors such as healthcare. He noted that many Kenyans are currently struggling with the high cost of living while also facing increased taxation.
According to the former Cabinet Secretary, public resources should focus on services that directly improve the lives of citizens.
He argued that hospitals, which provide lifesaving treatment and essential medical care, deserve greater financial support than administrative offices.
