Shock and disbelief have gripped residents of Roysambu after a senior officer attached to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) headquarters reportedly surrendered to police over the alleged killing of his wife.
The officer, identified as Daniel Macharia, who is based at the DCI headquarters along Kiambu Road, allegedly presented himself at Naivasha Police Station after the tragic incident that reportedly occurred at their home along Lumumba Drive in Roysambu, Nairobi.
According to police reports, the officer allegedly stabbed his wife, Flowrence Nyagah, multiple times in the chest and forehead inside their house. She was reportedly found lying in a pool of blood on the floor, with a kitchen knife without a handle recovered under a table.
Authorities believe the knife could have been used in the attack, although investigations are still ongoing.
Nyagah, who was a local salonist, had last spoken to her daughter through a video call on February 28 while she was reportedly at home with her husband.
When she failed to answer repeated calls afterward, her daughter visited the house on March 1 and allegedly discovered her mother’s lifeless body.
The motive behind the incident has not yet been established. Macharia is currently being held at Naivasha Police Station and is reportedly expected to be transferred to Nairobi for further questioning as detectives continue piecing together the events that led to the incident.
The case has once again raised concerns over rising cases of domestic violence in Kenya, with authorities urging families to seek peaceful conflict resolution before matters escalate.
