Residents of Busia County have been left in shock after a senior police officer attached to one of the police stations in the area was reportedly attacked and killed by suspected goons while heading home on Wednesday evening. The sad incident has raised concern among residents and security officers in the region.
According to reports, the officer was driving home after finishing his daily duties when he was ambushed by a group of suspected criminals.
The goons, who were reportedly armed with pangas, forced the officer out of his car before attacking him. The incident is said to have happened in a quiet area, making it difficult for anyone nearby to quickly respond and help him.
Reports indicate that the officer tried to defend himself during the attack. Despite his efforts to fight back, the attackers are said to have overpowered him because they were many and had dangerous weapons.
During the frightening moment, the officer reportedly pleaded with the attackers to spare his life.
Sources claim that before he died, the officer’s last words were a desperate plea for mercy. He is said to have cried out saying, “Please forgive me,” hoping the attackers would stop the assault. Sadly, the attackers did not listen to his plea and the situation turned tragic.
The officer’s body was later discovered dumped in a nearby river, leaving residents shocked and saddened by the incident. Many people in the area have expressed anger and called for justice for the slain officer.
Police authorities have confirmed that investigations into the incident have already started.
Security officers are now searching for the suspects believed to be behind the attack as they work to establish the truth and ensure those responsible face the law.
