During a recent tour of Kawangware Primary School in Dagoretti North, pupils put Governor Johnson Sakaja on the spot over a promise that has yet to be fulfilled.
The visit, led by President William Ruto to inspect local development projects, attracted a large crowd of learners, teachers, and local leaders. Governor Sakaja accompanied the President throughout the tour.
Pupils Demand Promised Chapati Machine
As leaders addressed the learners, the mood shifted when a section of pupils raised their voices, demanding the chapati making machine that had been promised to the school.
The machine is meant to support the school feeding programme by improving meal preparation for the pupils.
Governor Sakaja had previously pledged to provide the machine, a promise that raised hope among both learners and parents, given the importance of the feeding programme.
The pupils’ direct reminder during the presidential tour highlighted growing impatience over the unfulfilled commitment.
The President witnessed the exchange as Governor Sakaja responded to the pupils’ concerns. The interaction has sparked public attention, with many following closely to see whether the pledge will be honored.
The situation underscores the power of citizen accountability, even from the youngest members of the community, and the importance of delivering on promises made during public engagements.
