Former Justina Wamae, who once served as Roots Party deputy presidential candidate, has called on opposition leaders to go beyond demands for President William Ruto to step down and instead present a clear and workable alternative agenda to Kenyans.
In a statement posted on her official X account on March 30, Wamae questioned whether critics of the current government have a structured plan for leadership transition.
She argued that relying only on the popular “Wantam” slogan, used by sections of the opposition calling for Ruto’s exit, risks exposing a
lack of concrete policy direction.
Wamae emphasized that any serious push for political change must be supported by practical policy proposals and a credible leadership framework.
According to her, Kenyans deserve clarity not only on why the current administration should be replaced, but also on what kind of leadership would follow and how national challenges would be addressed.
Her comments come at a time when political activity in the country is steadily increasing as Kenya moves closer to the 2027 General Election.
Opposition leaders have intensified criticism of the Kenya Kwanza administration, pointing to economic pressures and policy concerns affecting citizens.
However, Wamae cautioned that criticism alone is not enough to win public trust. She noted that a strong and persuasive vision for governance is necessary to convince voters and strengthen democratic competition.
Political analysts say her remarks reflect a growing debate within opposition circles over strategy, messaging, and long-term planning.
As the political climate heats up, calls for issue-based campaigns and clear policy alternatives are expected to play a major role in shaping national discourse ahead of the next election.
