A Kenyan woman identified as Teresiah has shared a heartbreaking account of what she says she went through while working in Saudi Arabia.
Speaking about her experience, Teresiah described her time abroad as extremely difficult, saying what she expected to be a normal job turned into a distressing situation that affected her both emotionally and physically.
She explained that upon arrival, she believed she had been employed as a housemaid. However, she was surprised to find another Kenyan woman already doing the same duties in the home.
This left her confused, prompting her to seek clarification from her employer.
According to Teresiah, when she asked about her role, her employer allegedly told her that she had not been brought in to do housework but for other inappropriate reasons.
She said the response, combined with the presence of the employer’s sons, left her feeling frightened and powerless.
She further claimed that her situation worsened over time. She alleged that she faced mistreatment both at night from her employer and during the day from his sons, making her stay unbearable.
Teresiah also stated that the experiences she went through had serious consequences on her health, saying her life changed drastically afterward.
After some time, she managed to return to Kenya, but she said she came back deeply affected by the ordeal.
She is now using her story to caution other Kenyan women planning to seek jobs abroad.
Teresiah urged them to be careful and to only use verified and safe recruitment channels when pursuing opportunities outside the country.
