Speaking about her ordeal, Teresiah said the life she lived there felt like real hell. She explained that what she expected to be a normal job turned into a nightmare that left her emotionally and physically broken.
According to Teresiah, when she arrived in the foreign country, she believed she had been hired to work as a house maid. However, she was shocked to find another Kenyan woman already working in the house doing the same duties she had been promised.
This made her confused, and she decided to ask her employer about the situation.
Teresiah said that when she asked her boss why another maid was already working there, he laughed and told her that her job was not to clean the house. Instead, he told her that her role was to satisfy him.
She recalled that while the man was saying those words, his sons were also present in the room and were smiling, something that made her feel even more scared and helpless.
The woman further revealed that the situation became worse with time. She claimed that during the night, her boss would abuse her, while during the day his sons would also mistreat her.
According to her, the painful experiences she went through eventually left her infected with HIV, something that completely changed her life.
After some time, Teresiah managed to return to Kenya, but she said she came back weak and deeply hurt by what had happened to her. She is now speaking out to warn other Kenyan women who are planning to travel abroad for jobs.
Teresiah advised them to be very careful and to ensure they go through safe and verified channels before accepting any job offers in foreign countries.
