Residents of Bentum in the Awutu Senya District have been left shocked after a young spiritualist allegedly confessed to killing a woman in a disturbing incident that has drawn widespread attention.
Police arrested the suspect, identified as Horlali Alatusa, who is believed to be in his early twenties. His arrest followed complaints from residents who reported a strong and unpleasant smell coming from a nearby farm area.
Authorities later visited the location and began investigations that led to the discovery of the crime. According to reports circulating online, the victim, identified as Akua, had previously visited the suspect seeking spiritual help. Reports indicate that she had earlier recovered from an illness after receiving treatment from him.
During questioning, the suspect reportedly told investigators that the woman had not harmed him in any way and that there had been no conflict between them.
He claimed that the troubling thoughts began after he handled human skeletal remains that his brother had brought to him for ritual purposes.
According to him, after touching the remains he began experiencing repeated urges to harm someone, including people close to him.
The suspect said those urges returned on the day the victim came to visit him.
He allegedly convinced her to accompany him to a farm under the pretext of harvesting herbs. While on the way, he attacked her and killed her.
In a confession circulating online, the suspect allegedly said, “I beheaded her in one strike while we were going to the farm. She never got to shout.”
Investigators say the suspect later admitted that he attempted to hide the crime by separating parts of the victim’s body and concealing them in different places.
According to his account, he buried some of the remains at his residence and carried another part to his hometown of Mafi-Avedo in the Volta Region.
He reportedly later informed his grandfather about what had happened, and the remains were subsequently buried in a cemetery.
Police investigations into the case are still ongoing as authorities work to establish all the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The shocking case has left many residents in the area deeply disturbed, with many calling for justice for the victim.
