"Going Back to Where I Come From," Shock as Senior Police Officer Found Dead in Kitchen After WhatsApp Message to Wife

A senior police officer has been found dead inside his family home, in a shocking incident that has sparked investigations by authorities.

Reports indicate that the officer’s body was discovered early Friday morning after his wife found him lying unresponsive on the kitchen floor at their residence in Akweteyman, Accra.

Police situational reports state that responding officers found the officer on his back, with visible injuries on both cheeks. His service pistol was also found on a kitchen stool near the body.

The officer has since been identified as Rockson Gyasi, a Deputy Superintendent serving with the Ghana Police Service. According to sources, Gyasi had traveled from Tsito in the Volta Region to Accra on Tuesday, March 10, to visit his family before the incident.

Preliminary investigations have revealed WhatsApp messages the officer reportedly sent to his wife on the day of his arrival, including statements suggesting that he was “going back to where he came from.” Authorities are reviewing these messages to determine any possible connection to his death.

Crime scene investigators have processed the residence, collecting evidence including photographs of the body, the firearm, and electronic messages for forensic examination.

The body has been taken to the Police Hospital Mortuary in Accra for a post-mortem examination to establish the exact cause of death.

The Tesano Divisional Police Command has confirmed that investigations are ongoing to determine how the firearm was discharged and the circumstances leading to DSP Gyasi’s death, with further updates expected as the inquiry progresses.
