George Wajackoyah, the leader of the Roots Party of Kenya, has dismissed claims associating him with emerging political factions ahead of the next General Election, stating that he is neither part of the “Tutam” movement nor the “One Term” camp.
Speaking during a public address, Wajackoyah made it clear that his focus remains on strengthening his party and addressing the needs of ordinary Kenyans, rather than joining political groupings forming across the country.
He emphasized that his political direction is guided by the principles and policies of the Roots Party, which was established to challenge the traditional political system and offer alternative leadership.
Wajackoyah described reports linking him to various camps as misleading, arguing that such claims are meant to divert attention from key national issues such as unemployment, corruption, and the high cost of living.
He insisted that the Roots Party will maintain its independence and continue engaging directly with citizens on issues affecting their daily lives, instead of entering alliances driven by personal political interests.
According to him, Kenya’s political space should move away from personality-driven competition and instead focus on issue-based leadership that delivers real solutions to citizens.
The former presidential candidate added that his priority is to build strong grassroots support and expand the party’s structures across the country in preparation for future elections.
He also called on Kenyans to remain cautious and avoid being drawn into divisive political camps that could undermine unity and shift focus away from development.
Political observers believe his remarks signal a deliberate move to maintain an independent political path as early realignments begin to shape up ahead of the next electoral cycle.
