Gachagua Joins Viral “Niko Kadi” Campaign as Voter Registration Gains Momentum

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has joined the fast-growing “Niko Kadi” digital campaign, adding political weight to a youth-led voter registration drive ahead of the 2027 General Elections.

Taking to his official X account on Saturday, March 21, 2026, the Democracy for Citizens Party leader urged Kenyans to take voter registration seriously, emphasizing the power of the ballot in shaping the country’s future.

“Kura yako, ni nguvu yako! #TUKOKADI,” Gachagua posted, echoing the campaign’s core message that every vote counts in democratic governance.

Youth-Driven Movement Gains National Attention
The “Niko Kadi” initiative, largely driven by young people, has quickly evolved into a nationwide civic mobilisation movement. It encourages eligible citizens—especially first-time voters—to register early in preparation for the next elections.

The campaign has gained significant traction across social media platforms, where users share their voter registration experiences and challenge others to do the same. The phrase “Niko Kadi” has now become a popular expression symbolizing readiness to participate in the electoral process.

Political Leaders Take Notice

Gachagua’s participation highlights growing political interest in the movement. President William Ruto has also embraced the trend, aligning himself with the mobilisation drive while affirming his administration’s readiness for upcoming political contests.

The initiative is spearheaded by photojournalist Allans Ademba, who has mobilized hundreds of young Kenyans through coordinated grassroots outreach and online engagement.

Areas such as Kasarani have already witnessed increased voter registration activity linked to the campaign.

Digital Civic Engagement on the Rise

Through hashtags like #TukoKadi, the campaign has transformed voter registration into a social and interactive process. Platforms such as TikTok, Instagram, and X have played a key role in spreading awareness, using peer influence to encourage more young people to register.

As momentum builds, the movement is increasingly shaping the national conversation around civic responsibility, with both youth and political leaders rallying behind efforts to boost voter turnout ahead of 2027.
