Senate Speaker Amason Kingi has revealed that the Pamoja African Alliance (PAA) will not field its own candidates in the 2027 General Election, opting instead to fully support the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) across all elective positions.
Speaking during a recent political engagement, Kingi said the decision followed internal consultations within the party. He explained that the move is aimed at strengthening unity within the Kenya Kwanza coalition ahead of the next election cycle.
According to Kingi, PAA believes that working closely with UDA will help consolidate development gains, particularly in the coastal region and across the country.
He added that the party will mobilize its supporters to rally behind UDA candidates in both national and local races.
The Senate Speaker further noted that the strategy is meant to prevent vote splitting among coalition partners, arguing that a united front will boost the coalition’s chances of retaining power beyond 2027.
The announcement marks a significant shift for PAA, a party that has played a key role in coastal politics since its formation to champion regional interests. In recent years, however, it has increasingly aligned itself with the ruling coalition led by President William Ruto.
