A man from Vihiga was rushed to the hospital on Wednesday in critical condition after pouring acid on his face. The shocking incident happened after his girlfriend, whom he had been talking to on the phone, told him that her airtime credit was finished.
The man, identified as Johnson Majinga, had called her after selling his cow and sending her Ksh 45,000 to help her. Friends and family say Johnson was deeply hurt when she said she had no credit, despite the money he had sent.
Before the tragic act, Johnson reportedly told people around him that he had never loved any woman as much as his girlfriend.
He said he could not bear to see her again or live with a good face after feeling betrayed.
