Alarm as Nairobi Obstetrician Dr Job Obwaka Reportedly Taken by Police

Concerns spread on Saturday after reports emerged that Dr Job Obwaka, a practising obstetrician at The Nairobi Hospital, had allegedly been taken away by police officers earlier in the day.

The incident, first raised by lawyer Nelson Havi, reportedly occurred around 9:00 am. Since then, Dr Obwaka’s mobile phone has remained switched off, sparking anxiety among colleagues, friends, and family who have been attempting to reach him.

Dr Obwaka, who works at one of Kenya’s major private health facilities, plays a key role in maternal care, including pregnancy monitoring, delivery services, and management of complications affecting mothers and newborns.

At this stage, the circumstances surrounding the alleged abduction remain unclear. It is not yet known why the doctor was targeted or whether a formal arrest has been made. Police had not released any official communication at the time the claims surfaced.

The incident has caused alarm in both medical and public circles, with many calling for clarity and prompt action to ensure Dr Obwaka’s safety.
Authorities and the public are awaiting updates on the situation.
