On Monday morning, Gathoni Wamuchomba publicly criticized Junet Mohamed over his alleged political moves.
Taking to her official X account, the vocal UDA MP accused the Suna East legislator of betraying veteran opposition leader Raila Odinga.
She also accused him of trying to “auction” the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party to President William Ruto, something she described as wrong and unacceptable.
In her strong statement, Wamuchomba claimed that when Raila needed Junet the most, he was nowhere to be seen. She alleged that even during the time Raila was reportedly unwell and admitted to hospital in India, Junet did not stand firmly by him.
She questioned why the same MP is now allegedly leading quiet negotiations about the future of ODM. According to her, this kind of action amounts to betrayal.
The UDA legislator went further to comment on the 2022 General Election. She claimed that if it were not for Junet Mohamed, Raila Odinga would have won the presidential race.
Wamuchomba alleged that money meant to support party agents was misused, which she believes contributed to Raila’s loss. However, these claims remain allegations and have not been officially verified.
Her remarks sparked mixed reactions among Kenyans online. Some supported her statements, saying political leaders must remain loyal to their party principals.
Others defended Junet Mohamed, arguing that internal party decisions should not be politicized publicly. The exchange has once again highlighted the growing political tension and divisions within the country.
