Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna is reportedly facing trouble ahead of his planned rally in Kakamega County this Sunday. Reports going around on social media claim that some police officers in the county have allegedly received money to arrest him.
According to information shared by a reliable source online, officers have been given strict instructions to arrest Sifuna immediately if he attempts to enter Kakamega to hold the rally.
The report says that there are plans in place to block him from addressing residents as earlier planned.
The same source further revealed the amount of money that officers have allegedly been promised.
It is claimed that each officer involved in the operation has been paid Ksh 2,500. The money is said to be meant to ensure that the rally does not take place and that the senator is stopped before he can speak to his supporters.
The report also alleges that the officers agreed among themselves to follow the orders and arrest the Nairobi senator once they spot him within the county.
However, by the time of publishing this article, there has been no official statement from the police department or from Sifuna himself to confirm these claims.
Kenyans are now waiting to see what will happen on Sunday and whether the rally will proceed as planned or not.
More updates are expected as the situation continues to develop.
