Former Deputy President and DCP party leader Rigathi Gachagua has suggested that his political journey is following a path similar to that taken by President William Ruto.
While speaking during a public engagement, Gachagua explained that President Ruto first focused on strengthening political support in his home region before later expanding his influence across the country.
According to Gachagua, this approach played a key role in Ruto’s rise to national leadership.
He noted that he is also prioritizing unity and support from his grassroots base, saying strong community backing is essential for anyone seeking national leadership in Kenya.
Gachagua argued that leaders who overlook their local support risk losing credibility when appealing to the wider electorate.
He further emphasized that solid grassroots connections provide the foundation needed for meaningful national engagement and long-term political growth.
Although Gachagua did not openly declare his intention to seek a higher national office, his remarks have sparked discussion about his future political ambitions.
Political observers say such statements may indicate early positioning as political alliances and strategies begin to take shape ahead of future elections.
