The move has caused dismay in Kremlin ranks, significantly affecting Russia’s military operations. Reports indicate that the sudden loss of Starlink connectivity has hampered frontline assaults, coordination of drone strikes, and communication between units, delivering a major blow to Russia’s war efforts.
Musk acted following a request from Ukraine’s tech-savvy Defence Minister, Mykhaylo Fedorov, to deprive Russia of access to the Starlink system, while ensuring that Ukrainian forces could continue to use it.
