Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Secretary General and Busia Woman Representative, Hon. Catherine Omanyo, has energized party supporters with a fresh campaign slogan: “Hatuwezi kuwa bila power” – translated as “We cannot be without power”.
In a post shared on X on Thursday evening, Omanyo revealed a bold orange T-shirt design with the slogan cleverly spelled phonetically as “Hatuwezi kuwa bila Pawa”, reflecting everyday Kenyan pronunciation.
The T-shirt features:
Omanyo in a bright orange outfit and headwrap
ODM logos prominently displayed on the chest and sleeve
Omanyo flashing the peace sign
Campaign Significance
The slogan has quickly gone viral, attracting thousands of views and sparking lively debate.
Analysts interpret this as a direct assertion of ODM’s determination to reclaim national leadership ahead of the 2027 General Election, complementing ongoing “Linda Mwananchi” tours led by ODM leaders including Edwin Sifuna.
Omanyo’s campaign is seen as part of a strategic grassroots mobilisation across Western and Nyanza regions, consolidating ODM’s base and rallying supporters behind the party’s vision.
Mixed Reactions
The online launch, however, received a range of reactions:
Supporters praised it as a timely rallying cry for ODM’s renewed push for power
Critics mocked the phonetic spelling and the absence of Raila Odinga’s portrait
Some dismissed it as “clout-chasing” or questioned its messaging consistency
Despite the critiques, Omanyo’s bold approach signals ODM’s aggressive mobilisation strategy as political competition intensifies in the run-up to 2027.
