Judiciary Denies Dorothy Muoma Was a Magistrate

The Judiciary of Kenya has dismissed claims circulating on social media that Dorothy Muoma once served as a magistrate in Kitale.

Muoma’s name had drawn widespread attention online, with posts alleging that she previously worked as a court magistrate before reportedly developing mental health challenges and later living on the streets of Kitale in Trans-Nzoia County.

However, Judiciary spokesperson Paul Ndemo clarified that Muoma was never employed by the Judiciary in any capacity. He stated that at no point in her life did she serve as a magistrate or hold any position within the institution.

Despite refuting the claims, Ndemo extended condolences to Muoma’s family following her passing. Reports indicate that she died on February 3, 2025.

The clarification comes amid growing concern over misinformation spread on social media, as well as broader conversations about mental health and the dignity of individuals whose lives become subjects of online speculation.
