Nakuru County was the center of attention on Tuesday evening after Deputy President Kithure Kindiki addressed residents while standing in heavy rain.
According to reports from the event, the Deputy President declined an umbrella that was being held for him. Instead of seeking shelter, he chose to continue speaking to the people as the rain poured for nearly 30 minutes.
Many residents were seen standing under tents and buildings to protect themselves from the rain as he remained in the open.
The unusual moment quickly sparked reactions among Kenyans on social media. Some people wondered whether the DP was trying to send a hidden message.
Others even questioned whether he was trying to prove a point to his boss, President William Ruto. However, several political analysts have shared a different view. According to them, the Deputy President’s action was intentional and symbolic.
They claim that Kindiki wanted to show that he is a strong and fearless leader who can endure tough conditions just like ordinary Kenyans.
The analysts also argued that by standing in the rain, he was trying to demonstrate that he cares about the people and is ready to serve them no matter the situation.
They added that the move could also be a message to the opposition that he cannot be intimidated.
Furthermore, some believe the gesture was meant to show unity between him and President Ruto. According to these views, the DP was signaling that their leadership will continue working for Kenyans until 2032.
While different interpretations continue to emerge, one thing is clear — the moment in Nakuru has left many Kenyans talking and analyzing what it truly meant.
