Alfred Keter Reacts After Gladys Wanga Booed at Nyando ODM Rally

Former Nandi Hills MP Alfred Keter has weighed in on an incident that unfolded during an ODM rally in Nyando Constituency on February 17, 2026.

During the event, Gladys Wanga, Governor of Homa Bay County, was reportedly booed by sections of the crowd as she addressed supporters. Attendees were heard chanting the name of Babu Owino, while others echoed the slogan “WanTam.”

A video circulating on social media showed the governor struggling to speak over the chants, drawing widespread reactions online.

Political Reactions

The incident also caught the attention of Pauline Njoroge, Jubilee’s Digital Communications Strategist, who commented that the President could face growing political challenges ahead of the next general election.

She referenced mounting pressure from leaders including Rigathi Gachagua, Edwin Sifuna, and Babu Owino.

Keter, speaking on X (formerly Twitter), argued that the governor appeared surprised by the reception. He further claimed that promoting William Ruto in certain regions would face resistance. Despite this, Keter maintained that the President would secure a second term under the “WanTam” banner.

Growing Political Tensions

The Nyando rally incident highlights the increasing political activity and shifting loyalties within opposition circles as the country approaches the 2027 General Election.

Public rallies and social media exchanges continue to shape narratives and test grassroots support across different regions.

Observers note that such moments often signal deeper internal contestations within parties, as leaders position themselves strategically ahead of future electoral contests.
