In Kisumu county, during a critical ODM event, MP Millie Odhiambo found herself in a heated clash with a section of ODM members.
The disagreement arose after Odhiambo expressed her support for Winnie Odinga, daughter of the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, who has faced criticism from some party members.
Speaking at the event, Odhiambo said Winnie Odinga should not be intimidated for speaking the truth and defending her father’s party.
She added that those pointing fingers at Winnie have no shame and should focus on the bigger picture instead of personal attacks.
Before she could continue, a group of party members interrupted her, shouting that she should be removed from ODM.
The protesters also targeted other leaders, including Edwin Sifuna, Babu Owino, and Caleb Hamisi, calling them rebels for refusing to support a broad-based government. The scene became tense as voices clashed and supporters argued over loyalty and party principles.
Despite the threats, Odhiambo remained firm. She said she does not care about being removed from the party, emphasizing that she will continue to support Winnie Odinga and defend the Odinga family.
“I will stand by what is right, no matter what they say,” she declared, showing that her loyalty to the Odingas is unwavering.
This incident highlights growing tensions within ODM, as some members push for stricter alignment with party decisions while others, like Odhiambo, openly challenge internal criticism.
The drama in Kisumu reflects the complex dynamics in Kenyan politics, where loyalty, family legacy, and personal convictions often collide.
