New details have emerged surrounding the death of Alphy Migasha as the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) intensifies a murder investigation linked to a violent assault that occurred in Umoja One estate, Nairobi.
The Migasha family is demanding the immediate arrest and prosecution of a military officer identified as Nicholas Njue Ireri, who is alleged to have fatally assaulted Migasha at an entertainment venue on December 22, 2025.
According to investigators, CCTV footage from the premises captured the suspect confronting Migasha before violently attacking him and walking away from the scene. The footage has since become a key piece of evidence in the ongoing investigation.
A postmortem examination conducted by government pathologist Johansen Oduor has now confirmed the cause of death. Findings revealed that Migasha died from a blood clot in the lungs, which developed as a result of severe injuries sustained during the assault.
The examination further showed broken limbs, chest trauma, and internal injuries, all consistent with a brutal beating. After the incident, Migasha was rushed to hospital, but his condition worsened rapidly, leading to his death.
Despite the availability of video evidence and witness accounts, the suspect is reported to have fled and remains at large. This has sparked frustration among the deceased’s family, with Migasha’s mother expressing anger over the delay in making an arrest.
She maintained that the injuries from the assault directly led to her son’s death and appealed for urgent intervention by homicide detectives who have now taken over the case.
Police have confirmed that investigations are ongoing and efforts are underway to trace and apprehend the suspect. Authorities have assured the family that all available evidence, including CCTV footage, medical reports, and witness statements, is being thoroughly reviewed to ensure accountability.
Migasha’s relatives described him as a hard-working and dependable family pillar, whose death has left a deep emotional void. As the case continues to attract public attention, calls are growing for transparency, swift action, and justice.
