Breaking: Gachagua Threatens to Declare a National Holiday and Nationwide Protests Next Week if CS Murkomen and IG Kanja Do Not Resign

Former Deputy President and Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua has issued a strong warning to the government, saying Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen, Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja, and his Deputy Eliud Langat must step aside from office immediately.

Speaking on Friday during a public address, Gachagua claimed that the three senior security officials are responsible for attacks allegedly directed at him during church services and political rallies across the country.

He said the continued presence of the officials in office is a direct threat to his safety and to the freedom of Kenyans.

In his statement, Gachagua warned that if Murkomen, IG Kanja, and the Deputy Inspector General remain in office by next week, he will take drastic action.

He stated that he would declare a national holiday and instruct Kenyans to pour into the streets for peaceful protests.

According to him, the demonstrations would be meant to demand justice, accountability, and respect for democratic space.

Gachagua further claimed that the attacks against him by individuals allied to the Kenya Kwanza administration must come to an end.

He insisted that he has already gained massive support across the country and said any attempt to intimidate him will only strengthen his political movement.

The DCP leader also said that if he feels his life is in danger, he will signal Kenyans in all 47 counties to rise and protest in his favor.

He urged his supporters to remain calm but vigilant as the situation unfolds, adding that the coming days will determine the direction of the country’s politics.
