The woman who sparked a national outcry after posting a viral TikTok video mocking Raila Odinga Junior has been identified as Whitney, and she has now come forward in a tearful video to beg for forgiveness.
After her clip went viral and drew widespread condemnation, Whitney recorded an emotional apology, pleading with Kenyans and the Odinga family for mercy over her insensitive post.
Whitney became the subject of intense public criticism after she and her young child appeared in a TikTok challenge video where they mimicked the speech patterns and facial expressions of Raila Odinga Junior.
Raila Junior has previously opened up about his health challenges that have affected his speech, and many Kenyans viewed the TikTok video as cruel and disrespectful.
In the emotional apology video, Whitney broke down in tears, expressing deep regret for her actions.
“I am asking for forgiveness from Kenyans, starting with the family of Raila Junior. I am asking for forgiveness,” she said while sobbing.
Whitney explained that she never intended to offend anyone, insisting that the video was a poor attempt at humor that went terribly wrong.
She also pleaded on behalf of her young son, who appeared alongside her in the controversial clip, asking the public not to blame him for her mistake.
“On behalf of that child, I am asking you to forgive him. Please, I am just asking you to forgive me,” she said, wiping away tears.
The emotional video has since gone viral, with many Kenyans urging forgiveness while others reminded content creators to be more mindful of their actions online.
