Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) Secretary for Planning and Economic Affairs, Peter Mbae, has ignited fresh controversy after branding Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga a state agent, claiming he no longer belongs to either the DCP or the United Opposition.
Speaking shortly after Kahiga’s remarks on the late Raila Odinga sparked outrage across the nation, Mbae dismissed the governor’s comments as misleading and politically driven.
He argued that Kahiga’s statements do not represent the position of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua or the broader opposition alliance.
“Kahiga is not our person; he has been walking with those we rejected. Even Kindiki sent him to church on his behalf, proving he serves the state, not the opposition,” Mbae said firmly during a media briefing.
The DCP official further alleged that Kahiga is being controlled by external forces, describing him as a “state operative” used to cause confusion within the opposition’s ranks.
According to Mbae, Kahiga’s recent association with leaders the opposition distanced itself from a year ago has exposed his true political loyalty.
He cautioned Kenyans against linking Kahiga’s words to the United Opposition or Gachagua’s camp, insisting that such claims only serve to benefit those engineering division in the political scene.
“ODM leaders should stop blaming Gachagua. They should instead question those who instructed Kahiga to insult Raila’s memory,” Mbae stated.
The DCP Secretary concluded by calling for vigilance among opposition supporters, warning that the “real culprits” behind such political chaos are individuals operating within the government system itself.
