In March 1966, during the Vietnam War, U.S. Army Green Beret Bennie Adkins was stationed at Camp A Shau when enemy forces launched a massive surprise attack. 

The military outpost was quickly engulfed in fierce fighting as explosions erupted and heavy gunfire rained down, leaving many soldiers wounded and struggling to survive.

Despite suffering multiple injuries himself, Adkins refused to abandon his fellow troops. He continued defending the camp by operating mortars, delivering ammunition through intense enemy fire, and rescuing wounded soldiers by carrying them to safer locations where they could receive treatment.
