A Nairobi-based single mother is struggling to process a disturbing incident involving her young son, who allegedly accessed her phone while she was asleep and shared her Telegram videos online. According to her account, she went to bed as normal, not suspecting anything unusual would happen during the night.
She says that while she was deeply asleep, her son quietly woke up and took her phone without her knowledge. It is alleged that because the phone was secured with a fingerprint lock, the child may have used her finger to unlock it.
The mother further claims that the boy then browsed through her phone gallery and came across her Telegram videos. Shockingly, he reportedly selected some of them and uploaded them on social media platforms.
After doing so, he is said to have returned the phone to its place and gone back to sleep as if nothing had happened.
She only became aware of the incident in the morning after receiving numerous calls and messages from friends and acquaintances who had already seen the videos circulating online.
She says the situation has caused her significant emotional distress and embarrassment, especially since the content was never intended for public sharing.
The woman is now questioning what may have influenced her son’s behaviour and is seeking advice from Kenyans on how best to handle the matter both online and within the family.
In response, social media users have advised her to improve her phone security and have an open conversation with her son to understand his actions.
Others have encouraged her to act swiftly by reporting the matter and requesting the removal of the content from social media platforms.
