According to eyewitness reports, the trouble began after the woman allegedly heard rumours that her husband was cheating on her. Tensions reportedly escalated later in the evening when she boiled water using a gas stove while waiting for him to return home.
It is reported that when the man arrived home, he was welcomed by his young daughter. As he carried her in his arms, the woman allegedly poured the boiling water on both of them without warning, causing them severe burns.
The child is said to have screamed in intense pain, attracting neighbours who rushed to the scene after hearing the commotion. The two victims were quickly rescued and taken to a nearby hospital where they are currently receiving treatment.
Following the incident, the woman reportedly surrendered herself to the local police station. However, she was not immediately detained and was instead released as investigations into the matter continue.
The incident has sparked mixed reactions among Kenyans online, with many expressing shock and concern over the rising cases of domestic violence, especially those involving children.
