Residents of South Africa have been left in shock following reports that a popular politician was brutally killed by suspected hired assailants in a late-night attack at his home.
According to reports, Riggy Omesia was attacked at his residence at around 3:30 a.m. on Saturday. The attackers allegedly stormed the compound after first killing a security guard who was on duty at the property.
Reports indicate that the assailants then forced their way into the house, where they reportedly stabbed the politician to death under unclear circumstances. The attackers are also said to have abducted Omesia's wife and children before fleeing from the scene, sparking a massive search operation by security agencies.
